About Dr. Scott
Dr. Sam Scott was born and raised in Eastern Kentucky. At age 21 he joined the United States Navy and his eight years of service included involvement in Desert Storm. During his time in the Navy, Sam did rotations on the USS Scott and USS LaSalle as a Firecontrol Specialist. As he neared the end of his second contract with the Navy, he began taking pre-med classes at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and volunteering with the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. It was also during this time that Sam married Jennifer Brainerd Scott from Tazewell, Virginia. Jennifer was the sister of one of Sam's friends from basic training and she was attending Old Dominion University to earn her Master's degree.
Sam finished out his contract with the Navy and completed all of the pre-med requirements from Old Dominion University in 1999. Sam and Jennifer then moved to Des Moines, Iowa so that he could attend medical school at Des Moines University. In 2004 Sam completed medical school and had earned the degree of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM). From there, Sam and Jennifer looked for a way to get closer to the mountains and the families they had left behind in Kentucky and Virginia. Dr. Scott performed a two year residency in Johnson City, Tennessee at the James H. Quillen Mountain Home VA Center. He found his time in the military to be a great asset when working with the veterans and being in Tennessee was a step closer to family and home.
In 2006 Dr. Scott completed his residency and he, Jennifer, and their 1 1/2 year old son moved to Bluefield, West Virginia where Dr. Scott began working at The Foot Pain Center. Shortly after beginning his employment as a physician with The Foot Pain Center, Dr. Scott was approached by Clinch Valley Medical Center to open a practice in Richlands, Virginia. They were in need of a surgical podiatrist and it was a wonderful opportunity to build his own practice.
Dr. Scott opened the doors of Clinch Valley Family Podiatry in 2007 and the primary location is still in the physician's offices behind Clinch Valley Medical Center. However, he has opened satellite offices in Grundy and Bluefield, Virginia for patient convenience. He and Jennifer are members of Clinch River Kiwanis and are happy to be a part of this community.
As a leading provider of foot care, Clinch Valley Family Podiatry takes pride in offering the best surgical and non-surgical treatment options to meet patient needs.
